All Hallows’ School is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Y7 student Justine S, who recently represented Australia at the Canada Cup of Robotics – FIRST LEGO League Challenge in Ontario, Canada.
Held from 17–20 June at Brock University, the international competition brought together 98 teams from 27 countries.
Justine competed as part of ‘The Brickbot Battalion’, a team of eight talented students, and secured First Place in the Engineering Excellence Award.
This international achievement is the culmination of an incredible journey that began last year. ‘The Brickbot Battalion’ was first crowned Regional Champion among 24 teams before progressing to the Australian FIRST LEGO League Challenge national finals, where they placed third out of 48 teams. Their strong performance earned them the opportunity to compete internationally and showcase their skills against some of the world’s top young robotics teams.
The FIRST LEGO League Challenge introduces students aged 9–14 to real-world engineering and technology challenges through the design, construction and programming of LEGO-based robots.
Throughout the competition journey, students work collaboratively to design, build, test and program robots by conducting research and applying mathematical and science concepts. Teams tackle complex engineering tasks and explore issues relevant to today’s scientists and innovators.
This achievement highlights the rich opportunities available beyond the classroom that empower students to engage in independent learning, apply their knowledge to real world contexts and grow into confident, future-ready learners.
