The All Hallows’ School Whole School Project for 2026 is Helena’s House.
Named in honour of past pupil Helena McIlwain (Class of 2017), who passed away aged only 19, Helena’s House is a BestLife Foundation initiative that honours Helena's legacy of compassion, advocacy, and dedication to empowering children and young adults with disabilities.
Helena's House will be a welcoming, purpose-built home where young people with disabilities can experience independence, friendship, and belonging.
“We are doing this for Helena, to continue her legacy and passion for improving the lives of people with disabilities. Wise beyond her years, Helena was deeply committed to inclusion, even shifting her studies from medicine to occupational therapy as she believed that was how she could make a greater impact.” - Fiona McIlwain, Helena’s mum (BestLife Foundation, Helena’s House Update – April).
BestLife aims to build a five-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Brisbane. A block of land was secured in the suburb of Carina, and work began in February 2026 under Woollam Constructions.
Funds raised by All Hallows’ School will help create a sensory garden; a therapeutic outdoor space designed to enrich the wellbeing and learning of those who stay at Helena’s House.
We invite the All Hallows’ community to come together through our fundraising efforts this year to help make Helena’s House a reality.
