Years 5 & 6

Students participate in a structured transition to All Hallows’ when they commence in Year 5, to help them navigate the challenge of a considerable change in their educational journey.  Supporting this transition, students have a core teacher who delivers an academic program informed by the Australian Curriculum and the All Hallows’ Teaching for Learning Framework.  The core learning areas studied are: Religious Education, AHSfitforlife, English, Mathematics, HASS and Technology.  In addition, the students will be exposed to specialist teachers in the learning areas of Science, HPE, Languages and the Arts.  Digital literacy is integrated across the curriculum with all students utilising a device with access to digital resources and school-based support to engage in a variety of learning experiences. Students’ learning is also enhanced through opportunities to participate in incursions, excursions, retreats and camp programs.  As part of a well-rounded program, the students are encouraged to participate in the sporting and cultural programs on offer as well as Mercy Action opportunities.

Years 7 & 8

The Years 7 and 8 Program provides a structured transition to a more traditional secondary school model, in which students explore and extend themselves in their learning for both academic and life outcomes. Students become more mobile and self-reliant as they attend specialist lessons in different locations. They also join the House-based, vertical Years 7-12 Pastoral Care system, where each day begins with Home Groups coming together for valuable, shared experiences. In this phase of their Middle Schooling, through traditional subjects such as Religious Education, AHSfitforlife, English, Mathematics, Social Science, Science, The Arts, Languages and Health and Physical Education our students satisfy the Australian Curriculum. There are also targeted opportunities to experience learning in real life contexts through excursions, incursions, camps and retreats to support and enhance the academic program.

Years 9 & 10

Year 9 and 10 students follow a program that includes both core and elective elements.  The core elements include the subjects Religious Education, FitforLife, English, Mathematics, Science, History or Geography and Health and Physical Education.  Students also select elective subjects from the various Departmental Learning Areas of the Creative Arts, Business, Languages, Physical Education, Social Science and Technologies. Students also engage in the complementary curriculum being involved in cocurricular sporting and cultural activities, year level retreats, interhouse athletics, swimming and cross-country carnivals, specific class excursions and enrichment activities. In preparation for senior, our Heads of Department and teaching teams identify and embed foundational skills and concepts within our Year 9 and 10 curriculum, preparing them appropriately for their transition into senior studies.

Years 11 & 12

In Years 11 and 12, All Hallows’ School offers a comprehensive array of Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) General and Applied Syllabus Subjects. The variety of subjects and programs offered is wide, providing myriad pathways suited to the interests of our learners. Students' senior programs are typically composed of five or six General syllabus subjects plus another General and/or Applied syllabus subject, Tutorial class or a Vocational Education or Training (VET) Certificate course or Diploma.

A wider range of options is available through our seven subject line timetable – a feature that is not present in other like schools. Our self-directed Tutorial subject is very popular with our seniors, allowing them to devote part of their day to self-directed study, supported with past student tutors, peers and classroom teachers, and preparing them for future learning beyond school and into university and life beyond. We pay purposeful attention to promoting student wellbeing through healthy scholarship where study habits remain constant and rigorous throughout the entire academic year.

Our teachers are inspiring, dedicated and engaged with excellent subject expertise from Year 12 to Year 5.
