In a remarkable show of talent and enthusiasm, 55 students have successfully completed the Term 1 Geometry course of the Maths Hub Queensland enrichment program—an initiative designed to challenge and extend gifted and talented students in mathematics. This impressive turnout marks the highest number of participants from any school across Queensland.

Launched at the start of the school year, the extracurricular program is aimed at students in Years 7–10 and provides advanced problem-solving opportunities through an online platform and weekly zoom meetings. Students complete weekly mathematics challenges outside of class time, allowing them to develop critical thinking skills and prepare for the rigours of senior Mathematics, particularly Specialist Mathematics.

“When we sent the invitation letter home in Term 1, we hoped for a dozen students to express interest. To have 55 students take part—and complete—the course has exceeded all expectations,” said Iain Taylor, Head of Department – Mathematics.

The enrichment program supports All Hallows’ commitment to nurturing a passion for mathematics in its students, aligning with the school's broader academic goals. It also helps students meet the new curriculum standards, which now require the application of complex problem-solving skills in all mathematics assessments from Years 5 to 12.

Following the successful completion of the Term 1 Geometry module, a significant number of students have elected to continue their mathematical journey with the Term 2 focus on number theory.

In recognition of their outstanding efforts, several students received special commendations for excellent results. These achievements reflect not only individual dedication but also the culture of academic excellence that All Hallows’ School strives to cultivate.

To further support ongoing participation and collaboration, the school plans to offer a weekly Wednesday lunchtime session where students can gather to discuss and solve the enrichment problems together.

All Hallows’ School looks forward to continuing this successful initiative and building a vibrant community of young mathematicians who are inspired to explore and excel.
