Year 5 Entrepreneurs Impress at Shark Tank Showcase!

Throughout Terms 2 and 3, our Year 5 students have been exploring the world of economics and business, working in teams to develop and execute their own business ideas as part of the Digital Technologies Unit.

Inspired by the popular TV show Shark Tank, students pitched their products to a panel of “sharks” — as well as families, fellow students, and members of our Leadership Team — during a showcase event.

The Unit encouraged our youngest AHSisters to tap into their creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. They brainstormed ideas, designed products, built prototypes, and prepared professional pitches to present on the day.

From wellness innovations like the Denti-Bite to tech-inspired solutions such as the Clear N' Case, the showcase reflected thoughtful research, collaboration, and genuine passion. Students confidently presented their projects to an enthusiastic audience of families, staff, and peers.

We invited students from each Year 5 home group to reflect on their Shark Tank experience:

Zara M (5.2)

Project Name/Company: Sleep Sensory from Cloudtop Creations

What did you love about Shark Tank?
I really loved getting to talk to people I didn’t know during the Showcase and share the product we spent months developing. Setting up our table made the experience feel real — it was what we had worked and waited for!

What did you learn?
I learnt a lot about blue light for my product. I always knew it was harmful, but I never felt the need to research it until now.

What advice do you have for next year’s AHSisters doing Shark Tank?
Make sure everyone in your group stays busy during lessons. Don’t have more than one person working on a task — someone could be researching or doing something else. It shows you’ve prepared well and that you’re serious about your product!

Evie S (5.3)

Project Name/Company: Hair Str8

What did you love about Shark Tank?

I loved working with my group and learning new ways to to use the design process to come up with new and better versions of a product.

What did you learn?

I learnt that you have to be able to respect other people’s opinions and that when everyone works together, there are so many positives such as developing teamwork skills and building on everyone’s strengths.

What advice do you have for next year's AHSisters doing Shark Tank?

I would advise that if you can’t think of a great product straight away, don’t worry because there will be time to come up with something new and great. Also working with people you don’t know well might be hard at first but trust me, it gets easier the more you get to know each other. Finally, all the effort you put in is worth it because the Showcase day is absolutely amazing and fun!

Evelyn M (5.4)

Project Name/Company: Sticko

What did you love about Shark Tank?

I love how students in classes can join each other and meet new people

 What did you learn?

I learnt how to work with people I didn't know from different classes and how to be a great team.

What advice do you have for next year's AHSisters doing Shark Tank?

To work together, try not to be away and to bring your stuff in on time!

Lyla G (5.5)

Project Name/Company: Sleep Sensory from Cloudtop Creations

What did you love about Shark Tank?
At the start, I didn’t know my team members, Zara and Bianca, but now we’re friends. That’s one of the best things I’ve taken from this project.

What did you learn?
Working in a group is great — you can get things done quicker and everyone gets to share their ideas.

What advice do you have for next year’s AHSisters doing Shark Tank?
If you’re not in a group with your usual friends, don’t be scared or worried. Be happy you’re with people you might not know — you’ll get to know them through the Shark Tank journey.

Grace G and Amelia B (5.1)

Shark Tank was such an amazing experience! From planning to designing, everyone had a chance to shine. We worked on it during Term 2 and a little bit of Term 3. Over this time, we got into groups and met new people we might not have made friends with before.

Shark Tank taught us how to be creative and think outside the box. Everyone worked hard, and even if we didn’t win, we were proud of what we achieved. Shark Tank isn’t just about winning – it’s about teamwork, creativity, and resilience.

Amelia’s favourite part was making the posters and designing the product, while Grace loved working together as a team to make something useful. We also learned how to pitch our ideas and sell our products. We had to figure out the cost, calculate profit, and make sure our product was realistic.

Throughout the terms, we planned, designed, and created our products. At the end, we reflected on our choices, which helped us understand what great inventors do to make things even better. On presentation day, each group set up their display and presented its product to teachers, parents, students, and judges.

One of Grace’s favourite moments was winning the Teamwork Award. It made me feel very proud of how well we worked together. Another fun part was creating our group jingle, “Rolling Away with a Smile” – it was super fun to make together!

Shark Tank was an amazing experience that taught us so much about creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving. I can’t wait to see what ideas next year’s groups come up with!
