Dear Parents and Caregivers
Tonight, our dedicated and knowledgeable School Board meets for their Annual General Meeting. We are truly blessed to benefit from the wisdom and expertise of our Board Directors, who play a critical role in our school's governance and guide us in key strategic areas.
As volunteers, the service, commitment, and dedication of our School Board Directors, Foundation Board Directors, and Board Committee members are inspiring and a wonderful example of our Mercy values in action.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the Canonical Stewards of our school, Mercy Partners, for their ongoing guidance to our school as we further God’s mission of hope, compassion, respect and justice in our world. We thank Mr Kieran McCarthy, Mercy Partners Deputy Chair, who will chair the AGM tonight and for Mercy Partners' work to ensure the ongoing governing oversight of our school.
Sport and Performing Arts
Our co-curricular program has been in full action throughout the term, and we are coming to the end of sporting seasons for Indoor Hockey, Tennis and Water Polo. On Sunday, we had the opportunity to enjoy the annual Showcase Concerts for our Performing Arts students.
One feature of all of these activities is the service of our Parent Support Groups, who provide support and assistance in various ways, including hospitality and fundraising, to support the programs for the benefit of all students.
‘We Miss You Already’ Class of 2023 Graduate Party
This coming Sunday, our beautiful Terrace will be alive with laughter, friendship and joyful reunions when our Class of 2023 attends the annual Past Pupils’ Association ‘We Miss You Already’ Graduate Party.
This event provides an important opportunity to keep our newest graduates connected to our school and each other in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere, where they can share stories of the joys and opportunities they have experienced in their months since graduation in November 2023.
We extend a sincere thank you to our Past Pupils’ Association President, Ms Tron Fisher, Past Pupils’ Liaison, Ms Maree Nugent, and "We miss you already" event coordinator, Ms Nicki Dalton, whose service and ongoing commitment to our school make this such an enjoyable afternoon for our newest past pupils.
In closing, I would like to share with you a Lenten prayer for reflection as we journey to Palm Sunday this weekend:
God of all hope,
We pray for our world with all its beauty and need.
We thank you for the love in our lives that is a mirror of your unending love.
May all creation know your compassion this Lent and may we take courage to share it.
In our time, we hear the same words you spoke to Moses:
"I will be with you," when you ask us to do courageous things.
Through our prayer, fasting and almsgiving,
Move us to act in the company of your Spirit,
Showing compassion and acting for justice to renew the face of the Earth,
Now and for all future generations.
We ask this in the name of Christ.
Amen.
May God bless our school community this week with curiosity, courage and integrity.
Mrs Catherine O’Kane (Principal).
