Message from Mrs. Catherine O'Kane
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Next week, several key staff and I will travel to Perth to attend the 2025 Australasian Mercy Secondary Schools Association (AMSSA) Conference. This biannual gathering of Mercy educators from across Australasia is a unique opportunity to deepen our shared Mercy charism through professional learning, collaboration, and celebration. The conference theme, "Community, Connection, Celebration," perfectly captures the spirit of the AMSSA network and the vital role of relationships in cultivating thriving and faith-filled school communities. Through keynotes, workshops and immersive experiences, the program explores how best-practice leadership, teaching, and learning are strengthened when grounded in connection with each other, our shared Mercy ethos, history and traditions, and the broader world.
It has been a privilege to serve on the AMSSA Executive for the past six years and, more recently, as President of the Association for the past two. I will conclude this chapter of service at the conference, grateful for the shared commitment to Mercy education, friendships, and insights that have shaped my experience. At the conference, Mrs. Easton and I will present workshop sessions, and we look forward to contributing to the vibrant dialogue that defines this gathering of Mercy educators. Engaging with colleagues from across Australasia not only nourishes my own professional learning but also brings fresh perspectives and renewed energy to our work at All Hallows’ to sustain and strengthen the Mercy ethos that lies at the heart of our identity and all that we do.
Giving Day
On Thursday, 12 June, our All Hallows’ community will unite for our fourth annual Giving Day, supporting the Catherine McAuley Bursary Fund. This year’s theme, “The Promise,” is inspired by Josie, a Grade 5 student who is discovering how Catherine McAuley’s vision and generosity have transformed countless lives.
Inspired by Catherine’s decision to use her inheritance to empower women and children, Josie has made a promise to carry forward that same spirit of compassion and opportunity. Her promise has inspired us to make some of our own, and now we invite you to join us in helping to keep Josie’s promise.
You can get involved by becoming a Match Donor, volunteering in our Vollies Hub to spread the word, or making a gift on the day.
Our aim is to raise $215,800 for two bursaries. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks on how you can be part of this impactful day. Together, we can open doors and change lives.
Dr Lee-Anne Perry AM Leadership and Service Award
Applications for the Dr Lee-Anne Perry AM Leadership and Service Award will open on Monday, 26 May!
This Award, proudly funded by our Past Pupils’ Association, acknowledges the contributions of our many past pupils who are actively living the Mercy ethos and improving the lives of others in our local and global community. The Award comprises a $5,000 grant to undertake or continue a project with social justice goals that will further hone and develop the recipient’s leadership skills. The funds could be used, for example, for an internship, project development, study tour or immersion.

National Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week
As a Mercy community committed to justice and truth-telling, we pause on 26 May to mark National Sorry Day, a time to remember and honour the Stolen Generations and acknowledge the ongoing journey of healing. Throughout National Reconciliation Week, our students and staff will engage in a range of reflective and educational activities that deepen our understanding and strengthen our commitment to reconciliation.
This year’s theme, "Bridging Now to Next", reminds us that reconciliation is not a one-week event, but an ongoing call to action for every member of our community. May we continue to walk together with courage, compassion and a listening heart.
Prayer for Reconciliation
God of all peoples,
We give thanks for the rich cultures and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Help us to walk together in a spirit of truth, justice, and reconciliation.
May your healing flow through our land, and may peace and unity grow in every heart.
Amen.
May God bless our All Hallows’ community over the coming weeks,
Mrs. Catherine O'Kane (Principal).
