A Message from Ms. Carolyn Liddy
Dear Parents and Caregivers
Welcome to Term 4! I hope that the holiday break brought some moments to recharge and relax. Perhaps the break already seems to be in the distant past as Term 4 rushes by! In the coming weeks, we look forward to new challenges, celebrating achievements, and ending the school year with enthusiasm.
September Tours
It has been wonderful to hear from some of our French students and staff who took part in the French Tour to Tahiti. The students embraced every opportunity throughout the tour to develop their French skills. They were especially pleased when the cabin manager on their flight to Tahiti made an extra effort to use comprehensible French and encouraged the students to switch to “French mode”.
There seemed to be plenty of wonderful sightseeing experiences mixed in amongst the French lessons, including a boat trip to Motu Ahi, hiking around Moorea, visiting the Papeete markets, and learning about coral preservation whilst snorkelling in the coral reefs of French Polynesia.
Thank you to Madame Lambert and Madame Prado-Wulf for their exceptional organisation and support; their commitment to our students’ learning and growth is greatly appreciated.
Celebration of Excellence
Last Thursday’s Celebration of Excellence was a wonderful occasion to honour the achievements and dedication of our staff and students. It was very moving to acknowledge so many of our students across such a broad range of activities in Mercy Action, Service, Learning, Culture, and Sport. Some highlights of the evening included the many performances by our hard-working and talented ensembles - The St Cecilia String Ensemble, the Wind Symphony, Percussion Ensemble, Sister Mary Celine Chorale, and Dance Ensemble 1.
I give thanks to the many presenters, performers, students, and staff who helped with the preparation and organisation of such a special event.
Special Events
Our Year 11 and 12 students gathered in Loretto Hall yesterday for their Entrusting the Legacy Liturgy. This was a beautiful occasion to mark the transition of the leadership of our school from our amazing Class of 2025 to our Class of 2026. The students embraced the opportunity to mark the friendship, wisdom, and fun that have been shared between Year 11 and 12 students in their Home Groups over the past 5 years.
This is the first of many special events for our Year 12 students. Tomorrow, each House will take the opportunity to farewell their Year 12s during a special House Assembly. We look forward to honouring the contribution of each of our Year 12s to their Home Group and their House. I know each Home Group will be sad to say goodbye to their Year 12s. We are very grateful to you for the friendship, support, and leadership you have brought to Home Group each morning since January 2020!
Whilst we celebrate the many achievements of our current Year 12s, we are also excited to celebrate the beginning of the leadership of our Class of 2026! We are looking forward to the Leadership Commissioning Mass of our 2026 school leaders on Monday 20 October.
Sport and Culture
Our co-curricular programs are continuing throughout this term. The following Term 4 sports have commenced with great enthusiasm: Knowles Cup Tennis, Water Polo, Indoor Hockey, Junior AFL, and Inters Basketball, and Touch Football continues this term. It is exciting to welcome new 2026 students into our water polo and hockey programs.
During the September break, we participated in numerous sports championships. I congratulate our committed and enthusiastic sporting teams who competed in the Netball Primary Schools Cup, Basketball Schools Qld Senior Championships, Rowing State Championships, and the Futsal Qld State Titles. Thank you to our dedicated Sports Team, including our Sports Coordinators and all coaches who supported these teams throughout the break.
I am looking forward to the Year 5 Instrumental Music Afternoon this afternoon at 4pm. As my office is located below the Concert Hall, I have enjoyed hearing the progress of some of our Year 5 ensembles throughout the year. The growth they have achieved in such a short time is amazing, and I’m sure this afternoon’s concert will prove to be an entertaining and enjoyable event.
Congratulations to our two Theatresports teams who made it through to the Grand Final, which occurred last Sunday evening at La Boite Theatre. It was especially pleasing to see that two All Hallows’ teams were amongst the seven teams who were competing in this event. Special congratulations to our Ham Sandwich Team, named the Championship Team on the night. It was an entertaining evening filled with wit, physical theatre, and fun. I would like to especially thank Mrs Sue Pearn, who leads the Theatresports program at All Hallows’, for her generosity, enthusiasm, and dedication to this program.
