A message from Mrs. Catherine O'Kane
Dear Parents and Caregivers
As we come to the final days of the 2025 school year, it’s hard to believe just how quickly these months have unfolded. Soon, your daughters will step into the welcome pause of the Christmas holidays, a time for celebration, rest, and treasured moments with family and friends.
Throughout the year, in partnership with you, we have walked alongside our AHSisters as they explored new learning, discovered passions, weathered challenges, and celebrated achievements. Our school theme, Ignite hope with compassionate hearts, has quietly shaped every corner of school life. My hope is that each student can look back with pride at her growth, her courage, her compassion, and all the small moments that have strengthened her sense of self and her capacity to bring hope into the world.
None of this is possible without you. Thank you for the trust you place in us and for the countless ways you support your daughters and our community. Together, we continue to create a school where joy, justice, compassion, and integrity are lived values, not just spoken hopes.
As we prepare for a well-earned break, may we pause to acknowledge all that we’ve achieved and look ahead with hearts full of hope for the year to come.
2025 Whole School Project – Project Threads
One of the great joys of this year has been Project Threads, our Whole School Project for 2025. In true All Hallows’ spirit, our community once again rallied behind an initiative that speaks deeply to our Mercy story: strengthening lives through practical, compassionate support.
Thanks to the generosity, creativity, and determination of our students, staff and families, we have raised an extraordinary $55,000. These funds will support the Mater THREADS program ($25,000), supporting young people undertaking relapse prevention therapy and Mercy Works’ Livelihoods Project ($30,000) in Kiunga, Papua New Guinea
This remarkable outcome is a testament to what can happen when compassion is not just felt but acted upon. The generosity, creativity, and wholehearted commitment of our community have shown our students what it means to stand in solidarity with others and to put Mercy into action. These funds will genuinely change lives by offering hope to young people seeking recovery, and opening doors for women in Papua New Guinea to build sustainable futures for their families and communities.
Interhouse Swimming Spirit Carnival
Yesterday, our Swimming Interhouse Spirit Carnival brought great energy and joy to the Valley Pool. After the intensity of exams and end-of-term assessments, it was wonderful to see our students embrace a day that was all about House spirit, connection, and wholehearted participation. It was one of those special All Hallows’ moments where you can feel the strength of community simply by looking around.
The good-natured rivalry between Houses added an extra spark to the day, with our AHSisters throwing themselves into every race, novelty event, and war-cry with enthusiasm and energy.
I am delighted to congratulate Tighe House on winning the carnival.
Thank you to Mr Simmons-Bliss, our Sport Department, and all staff who were in attendance at the pool for creating such a memorable, uplifting experience for our students.
Holy Season of Advent
As we enter the holy season of Advent, we are invited once again to create space in our hearts for hope, peace, joy, and love. This beautiful season encourages us to pause and breathe deeply after the busyness of the year and to notice the blessings that have carried us, to honour the people who have walked alongside us, and to look toward Christmas with renewed gratitude and quiet expectation.
In the coming weeks, I pray that you find moments of stillness and connection, moments that remind you of what truly matters and what brings light into your home. May your family be held gently in the spirit of Christmas, and may the words of Catherine McAuley continue to guide us:
We should be shining lamps, giving light to all around us.
As we close the year, I offer my heartfelt thanks for your support, partnership, and presence in our community. I look forward to welcoming everyone back in the new year, ready to embrace the opportunities, growth, and grace that 2026 will bring.
With every blessing, may the peace and joy of Christ dwell richly with you this season.
Mrs. Catherine O’Kane (Principal)
