Swimming at All Hallows’ has an illustrious history with swimming greats such as Tracey Wickham and Julie Major being amongst our past pupils. All Hallows’ is one of the leading schools competing each year for the Duhig Cup in the Catholic Girls Secondary Schools’ Competition. (C.S.G.S.S.A) and the JTAS Swimming Championships, for Middle School students.
The season commences in early February with the Interhouse Swimming Carnival and finishes at the end of March when the girls compete at the Duhig Cup or JTAS carnival. Girls wishing to nominate for District, Regional & State level can do this through the school.
An interim swimming squad is selected following the Interhouse Carnival and these girls are expected to attend squad training at School and a minimum of two Evening Invitational Carnivals. Training is also open to any students wishing to improve their fitness but not necessarily compete.
A coach is employed by the School to run the training sessions at School. Most sessions are held in the Consilio Pool at All Hallows'.
The final selection of the squad for the Duhig Cup and JTAS is based on attendance at training and on times from the School Carnival and Invitational meets. It is our policy to allow as many students as possible to participate at the Duhig Cup and JTAS.
The School swimming suit is compulsory for competition events and are available from the Uniform Shop. The School swimming cap is supplied to all members of the swim squad.
There is no cost for squad training. Students who wish to nominate and who are selected in Regional, State and National teams are required to pay all related costs.
Parent support is required for timekeeping and judging at Invitational meets as well as at our own Interhouse Carnival and Duhig Cup. Parents are needed to help with breakfasts and if possible with transport back to School from outside training venue.
